Mathematics 11 prerequisites for any course or program
Many courses/programs require proof of an academic Math 11 course (e.g. B.C. Principles of Math 11, B.C. Precalculus 11 or B.C. Foundations 11) or equivalent with a certain letter grade. If you have taken an equivalent course at another institution, please submit a Transfer Credit Request and you official transcript by the posted deadlines. If you have missed the deadline for transfer credit, please see the course instructor or Department Chair/Coordinator to determine whether you have an acceptable substitute.
If you do not have documentation that shows that you have the required grade 11 mathematics prerequisite, you have the following options:
- Upgrade your mathematics at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÐ±¦µä¿ª½±½á¹û through our Mathematics Upgrading Department. Before you can enrol in mathematics upgrading courses you must complete a Mathematics Upgrading Assessment.
- Take the Math 11 Exemption Test. Note that this is a 3-hour exam that tests the full breadth of an academic Math 11 course. It is not a course challenge for course credit, but passing the test results in a standing which is equivalent to having passed an academic Math 11 course. Continue reading for less rigorous options.
- For admission to some courses/programs it is possible to take a specialized assessment that only tests the mathematics skills required for success in the course/program. See the chart below to determine whether this is an option for you.
