Before you register for any ENGU courses, you need to write an English placement test to determine your current written command of English (Except for students with a "C-" in English Studies or those entering through the ECE/CYC pathway). Once you complete the written test, you'll have a brief interview with an instructor.

There is no need to study or cram before taking your placement test. The tests are purely for placement purposes.

Placements are offered throughout the Fall, Winter and Summer semesters on both campuses, but you must register by calling one of the numbers listed below. Make sure you do your placement test before your course registration date.

Course fees

ENGU and MATU courses are tuition free.

Student fees still apply. For more information on the fee schedule (student fees and U-Pass) contact the English Upgrading Office.
