Learning Resources | Participants are advised to have a yoga mat for class and to wear comfortable clothing. | ||
Instruction Method | Classes will take place online. Students are expected to participate in class discussions. The retreat will take place at our New West campus. | ||
Assignments | Home practice is strongly encouraged and optimizes the benefits of mindfulness practice. | ||
Grading | This course is assessed on a Mastery/Non-mastery basis. | ||
Completion Timeframe | 8 weeks from course start date. Students may also attend the 8-hour retreat (register for BREV 1001 to attend). | ||

Course Instructor | Tom Heah (he/him) has taught Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) since 2006. He is a trainer and mentor for MBSR teachers-in-training at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto. He works as an occupational therapist in mental health with Vancouver Coastal Health. He is certified to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy through the UCSD Center for Mindfulness and is a Certified Mindfulness Facilitator through the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center. Tom has a M.Sc. in Occupational Therapy and is a Registered Occupational Therapist in BC. | ||
