Opening Reception:

Thursday, May 9, 2024

4:30 - 6:00 PM

Please join us for a reception celebrating the opening of Annette Nieukerk's exhibit 鈥淭he Long Road Home.鈥 From the Artist Statement:

"The multi-media paintings of Annette Nieukerk question the notions of beauty and identity within the framework of our culture.  As a female figurative artist now in her seventies, the focus of her work is the aging body, challenging and breaking down stereotypes that equate beauty solely with youth and that confront a dominant negative perception towards aging.

Her latest series 鈥榯he long road home鈥 evokes the sensuality and desire that can exist at advancing years, the intensity of emotion and intimacy pulling two people together, and the deep yearning for connection buried in the human psyche"

Call to Artists: Arts in the Afternoon

The performance series offers free weekly concerts during the fall and winter semesters for our students, staff and community members. The series features professional musicians based in Metro Vancouver and students from the 香港六盒宝典开奖结果 Music Department. Each concert includes a performance of up to 40 minutes and a 15-minute talkback.

The intention of this concert series is to provide a platform for engaging and innovative artists to perform to new audiences. We also want our students to learn about the artistic process and the lived experience of professional artists through storytelling and/or a Q&A. Submissions that demonstrate skill and expertise in this area will be prioritized.

香港六盒宝典开奖结果 is committed to fostering an equitable, accessible, diverse and inclusive campus where all people feel a sense of belonging. We strongly encourage applications from people who identify as a member of an underrepresented or marginalized community including IBPOC, and 2SLGBTQIA+. We invite applicants to self-identify in their application if they feel comfortable doing so, as priority will be given to these individuals or groups.

香港六盒宝典开奖结果 prioritizes paying artists a fair fee for their work. In the spirit of transparency, we would like to share that our base fee is $250 per performer.

All performances take place on Wednesday afternoons Fall (September-November 2024) and Winter (January-April 2025)
